Rising from a restful sleep, guests at Borgo Finocchieto each bright Tuscan morning face the delightful question of What to do today? Head out to one of the many picturesque nearby towns to enjoy a great lunch, visit a museum, art gallery, or ancient monastery, or go on a shopping expedition to Florence, Siena or one of the regional markets? Or “stay home” at the Borgo and avail yourself of the many opportunities for cardio workouts, athletic competition, relaxing, reading, or just having fun? If the latter, the Borgo has much to offer.
Relax by the 60-foot oval swimming pool under the sun on our lounge chairs or in the shade with breathtaking views of Montalcino and the valley beyond. The pool is equipped with lounges, chairs, tables, towels and inflatables. Nearby is an open-air refreshment center under a thatched roof, with chilled water, soft drinks, wine and beer close at hand.
Play basketball or a game of tennis – all equipment included.
Go for a run on the treadmill or use our elliptical machines and Cybex to build up an appetite before dinner. Our gym has 17 Cybex machines, two ellipticals, a treadmill, bench and free weights, plus exercise mats and balls.
Try out one of the most popular pieces of equipment, the extraordinary massage chair.
Head to the spa and try our steam room or our sauna, then jump in the cold splash and settle down in the hot tub.
Schedule an in-room massage or other spa treatments.
Bocce! Don’t miss the opportunity to play this wonderful and ancient game with family and friends. Easy to learn and to play (ask our manager Franco if you need a quick rules refresher), bocce nevertheless lends itself to strategy and enjoyable competition. And no matter the outcome, you’ll revel in our court’s beautiful setting and magnificent views.
Visit a neighboring golf course surrounded by the beauty of the Tuscan landscape.
Take a bike ride on one of our five mountain or eight titanium bikes, or stay low-tech and take a walk on the country roads around Bibbiano. The Borgo is ideally located as a base for hiking and biking excursions, as many excellent options extend immediately from our front door. A morning walk around local castles, the Ombrone River, and fields of grapevines can take as little as thirty minutes and as long as two hours. For those interested in covering a greater distance, we have assembled a collection of itineraries with maps, difficulty ratings, and suggested stopping points for beautiful vistas or restorative meals.
Assemble a group of up to four fellow adventurers for a hot air balloon ride... silently floating over olive groves, vineyards, medieval towns and stunning countryside, experiencing from above one of the most beautiful areas in Italy.
